You may have noticed a square icon like the one on the right and the word "Save" appearing on WNYC.org pages.

The icon belongs to del.icio.us, a social bookmarking site. What is social bookmarking? It's a way to save your collection of bookmarks so that you can access them from any computer any time and also share them with others.

With a fast-growing number of users and millions of saved bookmarks, del.icio.us is a great way to find the best of the Web, as determined by others who share your interests.

In addition to convenience, del.icio.us offers several cool features. One is "tagging." Anytime you save a bookmark to del.icio.us, you can categorize, or "tag," that link using keywords. This makes it easier to organize and find bookmarks.

Another feature is the ability to see collections of "bundles" of links on a common theme.

If you don't care to share your bookmarks, you can make them private. There are many other neat features of del.icio.us, check out their website.

1. Sign up at del.icio.us. There is no cost or other obligation and the sign-up procedure is fast and easy.

Once you've installed the del.icio.us button on your browser, you can save any link to your del.icio.us collection by clicking the button in your bookmarks bar and assign it some tags to make it easy to find in the future. It's that easy.
